HYDRATED LIME
Hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide) is a dry, colorless crystalline powder manufactured by
treating calcium oxide (quicklime) with water, in a process called "slaking." Also known
as slack lime, builders lime or pickling lime, hydrated lime is used in the production
of mortars, plasters, cements, paints, hard rubber

Application and Use
- Hydrated lime (Ca(OH)2) will harden when mixed with water and allowed to dry and
recrystallize.
- Improve the resistance to rain penetration of the mortar.
- Acid neutralization, water softening, and impurity removal.
- prior to coagulation to increase the pH and alkalinity of the water to bring them to
optimum levels for coagulation
- Lime can improve crop yield and the root system of plants and grass where soils are
acidic.
- Lime Putty (Calcium Hydroxide), is a highly plastic and workable material with
molecular and free water (usually around 50%).
